Geography & Environmental Science Seminar
There are many benefits of vaccinating the population against COVID-19 including a reduction in transmission, the likelihood of severe disease, and pressure on the health system. We assessed geographic inequalities in vaccine access in Kenya (East Africa) over the past 1 year and show that despite the ongoing efforts to increase coverage, only 30% of the population > 18 years adults will have been vaccinated by April 2022 highlighting the disproportionate access to the vaccine in Africa population.
