Southampton student nurse achieves runner up prize

Published: 9 March 2012

University of Southampton student Daniel Morris has been chosen as runner up in a new nursing scholarship award offered by the UK’s leading charity for nurses.

Daniel was selected for the Outstanding Student Nurse Award in the recently-launched Cavell Nurses’ Trust Scholarship Awards from dozens of hopefuls from around the UK who applied.

His runner up prize included a Sony VAIO laptop, which was very gratefully received by Daniel, and an invitation to the award ceremony in London at the end of April to receive his certificate.

Daniel comments: “I feel very honoured to have been chosen as runner up. It has already made a huge impact on my confidence and self-belief, and the laptop will be incredibly beneficial to my career and future studies.”
The Awards are designed to help nursing and midwifery students at the start of their careers. There are five categories: the Edith Cavell Leadership Award, Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, Outstanding Student Nurse Award, Community Award and Outstanding Student Midwife Award.

The finalists will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held in a prestigious London venue in April 2012.
