A summary of the latest news and intelligence from around the Faculty.

Midwifery student Jess Docking and nursing student Annette Welch were nominated to represent the Faculty at the 2014 Florence Nightingale Student Day earlier in May.  Over 60 students attended from across the UK to join in a Plenary Discussion session, followed by a trip to the Florence Nightingale Museum, visiting The Florence Nightingale Chapel in Westminster Abbey and attend the Commemoration Service.

Congratulations to Richard Collier who passed his PhD viva with minor amendments. The title of his thesis is: ‘A study of standardised testing and analysis of muscle fatigue of Longissimus Thoracis pars Thoracis, Iliocostalis Lumborum pars Thoracis and Lumbar Multifidus.'

A new edition of ‘A Sociology of Mental Health and Illness' co-written by Professor Anne Rogers has been published. The publication has been adopted by James Wilson for teaching in the Faculty and for Anne's first year undergraduate module in Applied Health Sciences encompassing 450 students.

Finally...great news from The Complete University Guide which released its 2015 league tables last week.  We have risen three places and are now third in the UK for nursing and second in England.  Congratulations to everyone who has worked hard to help achieve this superb result.  The University has also climbed four places to 16th out 123 Universities overall.
