There are four members of the HRU team
Susan Wilson is the head of the Histochemistry Research Unit and has over 25 years’ experience in histology. Susan initially trained as a Biomedical Scientist in histopathology within the National Health Service. After gaining her Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences in Cellular Pathology, she took a position at the University of Southampton, where she was a founding member of Professor Holgate’s asthma bronchoscopy research programme and provided histopathology support. During this time she studied for a PhD in Mucosal Inflammation.
Jon has been a member of the Histochemistry Research Unit since 1997 and oversees the day to day running of the Histology Laboratory. Jon has experience in all aspects of immunohistochemistry through is his work on basic science projects and commercial clinical trials.
In addition to being part of the HRU, Jon is responsible for the running of the Leica ASLMD Laser Microdissection facility and helped establish the Induced Sputum Laboratory for the Clinical and Experimental Sciences Academic Unit.
Jenny Norman joined the Histochemistry Research Unit in September 2007 as a part-time research technician. She took up a full-time post within the unit in August 2012. She has a BSc in Biomedical Sciences and an MSc in Biomedical Science (Immunology speciality subject).
Jenny has experience in a range of histological techniques.
Jamila Mcrobb is the newest member of the team and joined the Histochemistry Research Unit in September 2012. She has BSc (hons) in Biomedical Sciences.
