This short course introduces students to Boards of Directors, how they are structured, what their role is, and the implications from their presence on company performance.
Building on this we consider the implications of a number of recent financial crises - from Enron and Worldcom through to the 2008/9 global financial crisis, and consider bothe the role inappropriately structured boards and incentives played in the onset of these crises, as well as the importance of these devices in finding solutions.
The academic organising this topic is Dr Bruce Hearn , Associate Professor (Reader) in Accounting in the Southampton Business School.
