International Congress on Sound and Vibration
A group of researchers from the Intelligent Structures for Low Noise Environments research team attended the International Congress on Sound and Vibration in Montréal.
The International Congress on Sound and Vibration is an annual conference organised by the International Institute of Acoustics & Vibration , including a wide range of topics related to sound and vibration. A number of our researchers presented their work, including:
- Joe Milton demonstrating practical applications of active structural acoustic control using an estimate of the radiated sound power . Amongst strong competition, this paper won the best student paper award.
- Kristian Hook presented an interesting preliminary investigation into active vibration control using an active acoustic black hole
- Charlie House gave an excellent presentation about the use of virtual sensing to detect and control the scattered acoustic field from an object.
In addition to the presented papers, Dr Jordan Cheer was a member of the International Scientific Committee for the conference and was invited to organise and chair a session on Algorithms for Active Control in acknowledgement of his expertise in the field.
Outside of conference hours, the team managed to visit a number of sights around Montréal. This included Mount Royal itself, a number of historic churches and St. Helen’s island.
