Experimental Testing in the ISVR’s Anechoic Chamber

The timelapse below shows the 2-week process, as Charlie set up a large amount of equipment in the ISVR’s Anechoic Chamber, and carried out a series of extensive acoustic measurements. These are subsequently being used to investigate the acoustic scattering from a rigid sphere. Two microphone arrays were used to measure the sound-field (36 microphones in total), as well as a circular array of 32 custom-made loudspeakers and 3 large plaster balls! The largest ball weighed 80 kg, and required a specially designed pulley system to be installed in the anechoic chamber to enable it to be safely positioned.


The measurements were a success, and Charlie is hoping to publish the results in the upcoming conference season...so watch this space!
