Southampton law lecturer speaks at the first ASIL/ESIL Joint Conference

Dr Alexandros Ntovas from the Southampton Law School delivered a paper (The Role of the EU and US in the Establishment of the Compatibility Principle for the Conservation and Management of Straddling Stocks) at the Joint Conference of the American (ASIL) and European (ESIL) Society of International Law’s Interest Groups on International Environmental Law, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 22-23 November 2013. The Conference was hosted by the Center for International Environmental Studies at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies with support from the University of Geneva Faculty of Law and the European University Institute, as part of the Transworld Project), and attracted leading experts from various disciplines and backgrounds to discuss cutting-edge research in international environmental law. This is the first joint conference between two of the most important Societies in the field of international law which combined their expertise in exploring the changing nature of international law with a view to intensifying the transatlantic debate between the United States and the European Union on evolving approaches of important contemporary environmental legal issues.

Alexandros is a member of the Institute of Maritime Law. In December he was also quoted in a BBC article on deep ocean technology and underwater hotels.
