The Law School at Southampton has been delivering high quality legal education for over 60 years. In that time, we have welcomed generations of international students, challenged and educated them, and watched with great pride as they have gone on to successful careers in countries around the globe.

We provide research-led teaching where the academics teaching you are active researchers in the areas being discussed which ensures the content of your modules is up to date, challenging, and fully engaged with to-day’s problems and legal solutions.

Our academics are shaping future law, whether it be maritime, or commercial, or international law, or intellectual property, internet security, or public law. Our modules are about more than law ‘on the books’ but law as it impacts on every day society, looking nationally and internationally.

Students are taught in a mixture of large lectures and small seminar groups, where challenge and critical analysis is the order of the day. Lively debate and active participation by students makes for a vibrant learning environment.  Overall, the School is a welcoming, supporting, environment with strong engagement between academics and students who have additional opportunities to meet at various School events. We also offer a range of pastoral and academic support services.
