Clyde & Co Prize rewards exceptional LLM Maritime Law student
Southampton Law School student Angeliki Valsami has been presented with the Clyde & Co Prize for Best Overall Performance on the LLM in Maritime Law by the firm’s partner Jane Andrewartha.
Angeliki received a certificate and monetary prize for her remarkable achievements in a presentation held at an Insurance Law Moot organised by the Law School, for which Clyde & Co had kindly lent their premises in London this month.
“Being recognised as a prize winner by Clyde & Co was part of day-dreaming” says Angeliki. “Hearing my name from the organisers of the moot, amongst some very eminent scholars and being awarded by one of the most reputable partners of Clyde & Co made this process incredibly rewarding. I am thrilled and delighted to receive such an honour.”
The Clyde & Co Prize is a new addition to the long and growing list of prizes awarded by Southampton Law School to exceptional students every year. This accolade is the second Prize sponsored by Clyde & Co, who also award a one month work placement to the top student in the LLM module ‘Carriage by Air’.
Speaking about her future, Angeliki explains that she is not entirely certain of her plans, but she is confident that her experience at Southampton Law School has prepared for her for the challenge: “I know that I would enjoy a job in the maritime business, and right now I am not sure if that is going to be a law firm, a ship owning company or a P&I. What I do know, is that Southampton gave me the background and the leverage to be able to work anywhere in the business.”
