I chose Southampton so that I would be able to take part in, and engage with the employability services. I was always interested in the advocacy aspect of being a lawyer, so the opportunity to do mooting in the first year was a key factor in my decision. I was always interested in the advocacy aspect of being a lawyer, so the opportunity to do mooting in the first year at Southampton was a key factor in my decision. I was attracted by the large variety of optional modules that were available. I chose Southampton so that I would be able to take part in, and engage with the employability services.

What have been your Southampton ‘highlights’ whilst studying here?

My highlights of studying at Southampton so far would be competing in intramural Netball tournaments, staying in the Connaught halls of residence, getting to the second round of the Inter-Varsity mooting competition and attendign teh Law Society balls.

The opportunities I have taken while at Univesity have helped my personal development greatly. I've competed in the Inter-Varsity Mooting competition, which improved my confidence and mooting skills. I have been Netball Co-Captain, which improved my team-working and organisational skills. I also worked in the pro-bono Family Law Clinic, which was a great opportunity to develop my communication skills.

I enjoy the opportunity to engage with lecturers and have intellectually stimulating debates and discussions. I enjoy my third year modules, as they were of my personal interest and the variety to choose from was huge.

The Law School offers a variety of opportunities for students to gain employment and work experience. I attended the Law Fair which is a great chance to speak to employers and recruiters. The University also has a drop-in CV clinic, which is a fantastic service!

The University is friendly and vibrant! I love the campus - everything is easy to get to, and there is a range of services available (gym, food outlets, hairdressers, post office, banks, convenience stores). I love the opportunities to get involved with sports. The services illustrate the University's commitment to putting the happiness of their students first.

To current students - the three years will fly by! Maximise every single day that you have here, even if its the little things like going to the gym, having lunch with your friends, or using the academic services! Whilst studying is a priority, it should not be the only thing, make time to make memories! See the city and this part of the country, have fun evenings out, and relax!
