Professor Chris Armstrong Publishes new book: A Blue New Deal: Why We Need A New Politics for the Ocean
"A Blue New Deal: Why We Need A New Politics for the Ocean" presents a radical manifesto to deal with the twin oceanic crises of inequality and environmental destruction.
It was published by Yale University Press on 22nd February, and attracted some excellent advance publicity.
New Scientist called it ‘one of the best science books coming your way in 2022’ (link), and The Financial Times named it one of ‘The book to read in 2022’ (link).
National Geographic , meanwhile, included it in its list of five key books to tackle the climate crisis (link).
Since publication, some wonderful reviews have been rolling in. Writing for The Guardian , Phoebe Weston called the book "A manifesto for the oceans...The book provides a persuasive guide to recovery, and is an inspiring and invigorating read" (link).
The book has also been reviewed in The Independent (link) and New Scientist , which called it ‘A radical look at who owns the sea’ (link).
Writing in Country Life , Jonathan Self noted that ‘Armstrong is a gifted storyteller,’ and urged readers to buy the ‘informative, engaging book.’
