Event details
As the worst fears about Vladimir Putin's intentions towards Ukraine materialised, Dr Kamil Zwolski will provide his perspective on the causes of the current crisis.
Is the West to blame for the conflict, or should the fault be attributed to Russia's neo-imperialist ambitions? Does the crisis signify the end of the post-Cold War security architecture in Europe, or will it only reinforce it, further deepening the divide between Moscow and the West? Finally, in what ways is China key to understanding Russian foreign policy?
Dr Kamil Zwolski is Associate Professor in International Politics and Jean Monnet Chair of European Security Governance. His latest book, European Security in Integration Theory, shows how international integration theories developed after World War I (federalism and functionalism) should be revisited today, particularly in the context of the troubled European-Russian relations and the conflict in Ukraine.
