University of Southampton comment on the UK's decision to leave the EU

BSL EU Referendum Debate | 3 June 2016

 This well attended event organised by Public Policy|Southampton and Kam Deo provided a lively debate for users of British Sign Langauage to question representatives of the Leave and Remain camps. Held in the Nuffield Theatre at the University of Southampton the event was moderated by Kam Deo with Remain being represented by Zoe McWhinney (current Secretary of the European Deaf Students Union, and a student at the University of Birmingham, studying International Relations and Politics) and Tom Lichy (CEO of DeafLondon, a not for profit organisation that campaigns for the deaf community, equality and disability issues) with the Leave camp being represented by Thomas McWhinney (current board member for the BDA).

Views on Europe Debate | 13 May 2016

This popular event was moderated by Southampton alumnus and editor of the New Stateman, Jason Cowley, pits Desmond Swayne MP for New Forest West and Minister for DfID, and Matthew Cowley of Students for Britain (Southampton), arguing for the case for the UK to leave the EU, against Dr Alan Whitehead MP for Southampton Test and Southampton alumnus, with James Edwards Students for Europe (Southampton), arguing for the UK to retain its EU membership.
