Every year the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) completes the Graduate Outcomes survey. This national survey takes place around 15 months after students graduate and record what they go on to do.

Professor Jenny Fleming, Head of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, commented: “The great thing about a Social Sciences degree is the variety of opportunities it opens up to graduates. Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology graduates work for government departments, the probation service, social care, police, third sector organisations, prisons, social research and so much more.”

Results from the latest graduate outcomes survey (2017/2018) show that graduates from undergraduate Sociology, Social Policy, and Criminology programmes, achieved a 97% employment rate. This means that 97% of students, who responded to the survey, were employed or undertaking further study fifteen months after graduation.

Graduates went on to achieve a typical professional level starting salary of £25,000, fifteen months after graduation.
