Academics attend a virtual Networking event and get the latest updates from the Turing at Southampton
The Networking event, held virtually on 23 September, was an opportunity for academics to hear the latest updates from the Turing at Southampton team, and to find out how they can benefit from the University being a member of The Alan Turing Institute.
The session began with a welcome from Turing University Lead (TUL), Professor Peter Smith who reported on past events organised at Southampton before lockdown and how our engagement with the Turing continues to thrive, including:
- 23 Turing Fellows
- 13 funded Pilot Projects
- 8 Enhancement Projects
- 1 funded Doctoral students
- 4 funded Enrichment students
- 3 academic secondments to the Turing
This was followed by an introduction to:
- Professor Ben MacArthur , Turing Deputy Programme Director for Health and Medical Sciences and Southampton Turing Fellow, who gave a brief overview of the Health and Medical Science Programme .
- Michael Casey, a Mathematical Biology PhD student at Southampton, gave an insight into his recently completed placement on the Turing Enrichment Scheme;
- And Dr Donna Brown, Director of Academic Engagement, Turing who talked about the Interim University Partner Model
The session ended with a Q&A chaired by Peter.
