Jack Doyle , Thomas Davies , and David Massegur , join the 2021 cohort of the Turing Enrichment Scheme. The scheme aims to give students who are undertaking a PhD, the opportunity to support and enhance their current research by accessing the facilities and opportunities available at The Alan Turing Institute and its partners. Students usually join us in their second or third years of a typical doctorate to further the work they are undertaking for their research project and support the completion of the PhD.

David, who is a second-year PhD researcher, is really excited to join the Alan Turing Institute, says; 'I am looking forward to being part of the Turing community, where I will be able to learn the cutting edge of Artificial Intelligence, have dedicated training and meet the biggest experts in the field. This placement is the perfect opportunity to enhance my PhD research in engineering by adopting cross-disciplinary technologies as well as engaging to exciting new project collaborations in other disciplines. I also intend to broaden my network of researchers and strengthen the relationship between the Turing Institute and the University of Southampton.'

Jack, who is also a second-year PhD student and part of the CDT Theory and Modelling in the Chemical Sciences, says; 'I have been working from home since the first lockdown which has been quite isolating at times. I am very excited have been given the opportunity to take part in the Turing Enrichment scheme. I hope that this will at least in part make up for the lost contact with other researchers over the course of my PhD. It will be especially rewarding to experience the diversity of approaches to data_driven science across different disciplines.'
