In search of school belonging in technical high schools through a teachers’ jury (Mexico) 

Between April 19th and 21st, Dr Cristina Azaola delivered the workshop ‘In search of school belonging in technical high schools through a teachers’ jury’ in Mexico City. This was a very successful opportunity for 57 teachers from technical high schools from the states of Edomex, Hidalgo, Morelos and CDMX to work together to identify problems and evaluating possible solutions collaboratively. 

The teachers reflected upon their daily work challenges through highly collaborative group activities during the first day. On the second day, Dr Azaola, Dr Luis Mata (UNAM) and Dr Ana Razo (CIDE) shared their research findings on school belonging. Finally, on the last day teachers reflected on the evidence shared on the previous two days to propose ideas to implement better school belonging in their classrooms. The results from the workshop will be incorporated into an electronic poster that will be distributed to the participants and then onto their associated networks of collaboration so that other teachers from technical high schools can benefit from their proposals. The poster will also be available within the School of Education to generate new ideas and collaborations.
