Event details

All newly qualified teachers are invited to join us at our cross-phase Summer 2015 NQT conference at Southampton Education School. The conference is open to primary and secondary teachers, post-16 and FE lecturers.

There will be opportunities to reflect on the progress made during your first year of teaching, consolidate on your knowledge and skills and plan to make an impact in the next phase of your teaching career. You will have the opportunity to attend sessions on:

  • Where now? Career progression and further study at M-level or PhD
  • The role of pastoral teaching and management
  • Consolidating techniques in behaviour management
  • Learning Outside the Classroom: enhancing and enriching student learning experiences
  • Developing subject knowledge (choice of sessions by subject)
  • Coaching and mentoring for early career teachers
  • Improving basics mathematic knowledge and skills
  • Phonics and literacy workshop
  • Continuing professional development: developing evidence of impact

A keynote opening talk will be followed by choice of workshop sessions (a more detailed programme to follow).

Outcomes

  • Hear about the latest initiatives in teaching and learning
  • Plan a successful strategy for the next years of your career
  • Network with other NQTs and share experiences

Suitable for: Newly or recently qualified primary and secondary teachers, post-16 and FE lecturers.

The conference is free to attend to NQTs who qualified through Southampton Education School.  The fee for other NQTs is £95.
