The loss of levels in science and a move towards a mastery approach to the curriculum has left many schools wondering about the best way forward. We introduce a robust but manageable solution to the requirement to accurately assess moderate and track, pupil progress in science. This one day course is led by Debbie Eccles, Primarily Science. Session outline:

You will explore how good practice in formative assessment and summative judgment work closely together to ensure learning opportunities are maximised for the children you teach. You will take a closer look at the moderation materials and have the opportunity to discuss how best to moderate your decisions to ensure confidence in your judgements. Delegates will leave with electronic resources including a tracking system, progression grids and assessment activities that can easily be adapted to work in their schools.

You will:

• Know how to accurately assess children’s achievement and moderate judgements.

• Understand how to use assessment information to feed into next steps in learning.

• Suitable for Key Stage 1 and Key stage 2 subject leaders, senior managers and teachers.

• Establish what is required in order to track pupil progress and make judgments related to achieving National Standards in science.


Course fee £130 per person - includes a full day of professional development, all course resources, lunch and refreshments.
