Facilities

Our world-class buildings such as the award-winning EEE building, interdisciplinary Mountbatten complex and the Life Sciences building have contributed to the University of Southampton’s status as one of the best learning environments in the UK. Modern Languages and Humanities resources

The Centre for Language Study and the three resources rooms dedicated to the main languages studied here have the latest electronic equipment as well as: satellite television; extensive collections of video and audio recordings; helpful study guides; every kind of reference material (grammars, dictionaries etc); newspapers and magazines and topic boxes full of texts relating to particular topics for language courses.

The Hartley Library is home to unique and valuable historical archives and special collections including the Wellington and Palmerston archive and online databases, the Broadlands archive, and collections on named subjects such as the Parkes Jewish Studies collection, one of the best of its kind in the world.

Humanities at Southampton has a strong collaborative relationship with Chawton House Library (former residence of Jane Austen). The library houses a unique collection of books focusing on women's writing in English from 1600 to 1830.

Postgraduate study rooms

We have newly refurbished on-campus study rooms for our postgraduate researchers. We also provide customised laptops to facilitate their research.

SUSSED

SUSSED is a secure site which provides students, academics and administrative staff with world-class internet services. This is where you can check email, log into the student record system self-service pages, access learning materials and join the University's virtual communities.

On SUSSED you can locate useful information and resources such as the University calendar, the quality handbook and other education support materials.
