Study opportunities

We offer the following postgraduate programmes in social work:

  • MSc Social Work - a professional qualifying award for graduates with a first degree, which meets the GSCC requirements for becoming a social worker in the UK. The course involves modules on practice with adults, children and families, theory, legal frameworks and two practice placements.
  • MSc Professional Studies - we offer specialist pathways for social work professionals experienced in public, voluntary and private sector settings.
    • Leadership and Management - the advanced study of public service organisations, their management and the changing external contexts in which they operate.
    • Practice Education - a broad-based examination of management and practice issues in relation to teaching and learning in the social care workplace.
  • MPhil/PhD research - we offer opportunities for postgraduate research study (MPhil/PhD), across a range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and particular areas of research expertise include child and family wellbeing, and social work practices.
