Event details
Jennifer is interested in the genetics of species interactions, the value of genetic diversity in ecological communities, conservation projects and in the provision of ecosystem services. Her work is currently focused on the ecological consequences of genetic variation, primarily in a parasitic plant (yellow rattle) - host system. Looking at natural populations of yellow rattle and manipulating specific combinations of host and parasitic plants using molecular markers.
Within species genetic variation is an important component of biodiversity.
My work focuses on the influence of within species genetic diversity on among species interactions.
I will show how genetic variation within multiple species can affect the composition of and the way in which ecological communities function.
