Dr Mohamed Elmahgoub is a lecturer in Accounting at the Southampton Business School. Mohamed has been in Academia for the past 12 years working in International Universities within the faculty of Accounting and Finance.
Dr Elmahgoub joined Southampton Business School in September 2021 and having previously held a Senior Lecturer position in Accounting and a Course Director of the MAcc Accounting and Finance at BCU. He also worked as a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Essex.
Mohamed completed his PhD in Accounting from the University of Strathclyde with a particular focus on the impact of the extended audit report on financial reporting quality. He also holds MSc in Accounting and Finance (with Distinction) from the same institution. Mohamed holds a PGCTHE in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education which is recognised by the UK Advanced Higher Education (HEA) and became a Fellow of the HEA.
Mohamed is an active researcher and managed to publish in a number of internationally recognised journals, such as the Journal of Business Ethics and recently secured a research grant of £45,000 from the FRC. Mohamed’s research interests are in the areas of Auditing, Narrative Disclosure and Corporate Governance.
