Dr Sanjay Nagaraj MBA, PhD (Marketing)

Sanjay Nagaraj is a management professional with expertise in business advisory, brand strategy, and commercial management within a high-profile multinational corporation. With reference to his background, he runs training workshops in value creation across various business units internal and to external customer organizations (Tier 1 and Tier 2 communication service providers, and vertical segments). He was recipient of the best global value creation award for two consecutive years in 2011 & 2012 at Ericsson AB.

University of Southampton’s integrated approach (teaching, research, and enterprise) is a great way to connect to industry sectors.

Dr Nagaraj has over 30 years of Industry experience at leadership level in the field of Telecommunications, and in Management consultancy. As an adjunct faculty member in Northern Europe, in the past, his specialization is in the field of consumer marketing and behavioral science. He has taught courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, co-advisor to several MSc theses, and Ph.D. dissertations.

His focus has been in the application of brand information and its impact on judgement. He was also a recipient of best paper award in AMA Winters educators conference. He has also held academic consular positions in Sweden, and in America.

Research interests

Since 2006, Dr. Nagaraj has been engaged in consumer research and tested concepts for enhancing business operations and growth. His study formed the foundation of his doctoral research that examined the effects of information mode and presentation form. He applied it in various organizations he has worked in and continues to drive current research and engagement in marketing, product management, and sales.

Research areas of interests

  • Consumer attitude towards services on next Generation technology
  • Consumer perception of bundled marketing campaigns 
  • Consumers perceptions of eco label products

Other non-teaching roles include: providing support to enterprise arm to promote University of Southampton business programs, and consultancy service to enterprises.

Currently, seminar leader for 2 modules: (1) Strategic Management Decisions; and (2) Service Value for Digital Managers
