Economics Research

We are one of the oldest Economics Departments in the UK with a long track record of cutting-edge research, spanning the entire scope of modern Economics.

We produce innovative research that furthers and deepens our understanding of economic behaviour and societal problems, informs and influences economic and social policy, explores interdisciplinary approaches to big questions, whilst at the same time maintaining global recognition within the Economics discipline.

Our research is structured around four interconnected research groups– Economic Theory and Experimental Economics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics and Applied Economics.  Our research strength ranges across the core areas of the discipline and our expertise encompasses a broad range of subjects such as time series and financial econometrics, behavioural economics, game theory, quantitative and theoretical macro, labour economics, and applied micro-econometrics.
