Advanced Courses

The Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) Advanced Course is a five-day taught course in Sound and Vibration led by world-class experts in their fields. There is a two-day ‘refresher' in the fundamentals of sound and vibration, followed by a three-day ‘advanced' course in either Aeroacoustics, or Noise Control.

The next course will be on 6-10 September 2021. For the first time since the course's inception it will be held wholly online. Details will be sent to delegates once registered. The booking system is open and accessible via the online store.

All course lectures will be given live, at GMT times, as well as being recorded so those in alternate time zones will not be adversely affected. These recordings will be available until the end of the week following the course. Academics giving the course will also be available for questions live, and online until once again the end of the subsequent week.

Advanced Course in Noise Control

The Advanced Course in Noise Control outlines the underlying principles of noise control, examines the character of noise in some key applications and discusses how noise may be reduced by design or palliative treatment.

Advanced Course in Aeroacoustics

The Advanced Course in Aeroacoustics provides an introduction to the phenomena involved in the prediction and control of noise generated by flow, with an emphasis on the physics and modelling that underpin predictive acoustic analysis.
