I felt that there was a lot more I could do in the management of our 365 beaches. I was successful in obtaining the British Council Scholarship for the Eastern Caribbean region for 2006/07. I chose the University of Southampton because of the various entry pathways it offers. Shortly, I hope to establish my consultancy offering environmental management and coastal engineering services.

I will never regret choosing the University of Southampton. It is not only because of its academic reputation, but also the support offered to postgraduate students and the friendly environment for research.

True commitment is what my supervisor has demonstrated to me. I can still remember the time that even two days before Christmas, Dr Reed was still working together with me as we had set a deadline to complete my thesis on time.

Sport and recreational facilities are world-class at Southampton. Over the winter, I thoroughly enjoyed playing badminton and competed in the Winchester and District league.

What I have brought back to my country is a mind full of ideas, some of them related to audiology, others to music, others just about every day life wisdom, and a heart full of the warmth of British people. I wish that I am capable now of sharing all of these gifts and use them in my life and my profession.

Though the course involves plenty of work I am really enjoying it and I am considering continuing with a PhD in the area. Southampton city and University both have a fun social scene and it's easy to get away for a while to the New Forest to relax for a day

Having the opportunity of higher education in a world-class university like Southampton has transformed my life. Be ready to take on the challenge as an engineer and take your first step to a fulfilling career.

I came from a hard five-year engineering degree in Italy, which prepared my theoretical background thoroughly but left much unsaid regarding its practical application. My studies at the University of Southampton definitely complemented my earlier degree.
