Medical students from the University of Southampton have taken part in Restart A Heart Day, an international event aimed at training as many members of the public in CPR as possible.

Our students joined other medical schools, ambulance services and other healthcare providers up and down the country to hold events across the city encouraging people to learn CPR.

Locations included Park Run on Southampton Common, West Quay, Bargate, Above Bar Street and at the University Sports Facilities at Wide Lane.

Students were also based at St Mary’s Football Stadium for Southampton FC’s Premier League Home match. At half-time, the team were escorted pitch-side to give a live CPR demonstration to the capacity of over 30,000 people.

Throughout the day, our students helped more then 500 individuals perform CPR on the dummies.

The student group was organised by this year’s Restart A Heart Committee, Harriet Perkins, Malin White and Erin Cotton.
