Dr Robin Poole MB ChB MRCGP PGCert MSc MFPH
Postgraduate research student
Dr Robin Poole is a Postgraduate research student within Medicine at the University of Southampton.
Robin graduated in medicine at the University of Birmingham medical school in 1997 and trained as a General Practitioner in Gloucestershire. He then worked as a GP in a variety of practices in South East Kent for over 10 years. During this time he developed an interest in obesity and nutrition and realised that his interests were perfectly aligned with a career in public health. He began specialist training in Wessex in 2013. During this time, Robin furthered his interest in obesity by researching the association between healthy weight status of children aged 4-5 years and spatial access to play areas in Southampton. He also evaluated local implementation of the evidence based weight loss intervention for men ‘Football Fans in Training’ when it was introduced to Southampton Football Club. Robin is now conducting a Doctorate of Medicine degree Primary Care and Population Sciences, building on the group’s interest in liver disease. Robin will be researching the association of coffee drinking and liver health.
