Winter graduation ceremonies will honour over 1,000 graduates across a range of disciplines.

The University of Southampton will celebrate the achievements of over 1,000 students during Winter Graduation Ceremonies in the city this week.

The three days of activity from Wednesday to Friday, 12-14 December, will feature 11 ceremonies of graduating students from a wide range of subjects related to the University’s Faculties of Environment & Life Sciences, Engineering & Physical Sciences, and Arts and Humanities including the Winchester School of Art.

Amongst the graduands is Professor Tang En Chye, President of the National University of Singapore (NUS) who will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Science on Thursday, 13 December. President Tan is a passionate and award-winning educator in mathematics who is widely regarded as a pioneer architect of the current academic system in NUS, Singapore’s flagship higher education institution and one of Asia’s leading universities.

“I always look forward graduation as one of the most exciting and important times of the year and on behalf of the University and my colleagues, I would like to congratulate all our graduating students,” said Professor Sir Christopher Snowden, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton. “This is a very special occasion and I am sure our graduates will remember this as a highpoint of their lives. They should all take great personal satisfaction in the completion of their studies and the awards they have received.”

All of this year’s Winter Graduation ceremonies will take place in the Turner Sims Concert Hall on the University of Southampton’s Highfield Campus. The ceremonies can be viewed live online.
