Students celebrate at 11,000 strong Super Graduation
We're welcoming thousands of people from around the UK and worldwide for our super graduation this week.
This year more than 11,000 graduands, representing over 40 academic departments and nearly 900 subjects, will receive their undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral awards, making this the largest graduation event in the University's history.
Deborah Gill, VP Education and Student Experience at the University of Southampton, said: "Everyone at the University is very excited to see the return of in-person graduation ceremonies.
"The clinking of glasses, murmur of conversation and talk of the future, is wonderful to be a part of, and we can't wait to welcome our graduates and their families to this very exciting event."
She added: "We are particularly delighted to welcome back students who would have had their graduation ceremonies in 2020 and 2021.
"The challenges of COVID-19 were difficult for us all, especially these students, so it is only right that they get the ceremony and celebration they richly deserve."
Presiding over the ceremonies will be Pro-Chancellor Jon Sopel, internationally renowned journalist and former Southampton graduate with a BSc in Politics and Sociology (1981).
