Dr Ian West is a Visiting Scientist at Southampton University and, a former geology lecturer, has been on the Staff of Southampton University continuously since 1957. He is well-know internationally for his website - Geology of the Wessex Coast, which has more than 140 separate webpages and thousands of geological photographs, and this is run from the Southampton University server. He is a Senior Fellow of the Geological Society of London and has received the Worth Prize for his geological website work. Please google: "Geology Wessex Coast" for further information.

I am currently a visiting scientist with Ocean and Earth Science, University of Southampton.

Previously on University staff since 1957 (old Geology Department).

Specialist activity: carbonate-evaporate sedimentology and application to petroleum geology. Leader of numerous geological field trips.
