Public engagement at festivals and major public events

This session is aimed at students and staff who are expecting or would like to engage the public with their* research at festivals or other major public events, for example by taking part in Science and Engineering Day (March), Human Worlds Festival (November) or the University’s Bringing Research to Life Roadshow.

The ingredients of an effective exhibit will be examined, along with ways to engage likely audiences.  Challenges will be discussed such as logistics, costs and coordinating a team.

*general helpers who want to develop their science communication skills are welcome on the Roadshow.

It is highly recommended that you attend the workshop 'Introduction to Public Engagement with Research' before coming along to this session. 

Who is this course for?

Academic staff, research staff, doctoral researchers from any discipline, plus undergraduates who are signed up to the Roadshow**.
