Public Engagement with Research

Bringing Research to Life Roadshow

'Bringing Research to Life Roadshow' is our itinerant platform designed to help researchers develop effective ways of sharing their work with the public.

The Roadshow tours both regional and national events between May and September each year and visits a wide variety of events, from community celebrations to country and music festivals.

In a typical year we work with research groups from across the University of Southampton and reach 20,000 people.

The Roadshow is taking a break due to the current COVID-19 situation.

Depending on Government and University guidelines closer to the time, we may return in late 2021.

We are taking the opportunity to review our Roadshow strategy for 2022 forwards. Our consultation work on this revised strategy is particularly informed by UKRI's new vision for public engagement.

The current aims of the Roadshow are:

  1. To provide a research showcase for impact and public engagement
  2. To provide experiential research communication training
  3. To engage a wide variety of audiences
  4. To increase visibility to key partners
  5. To connect researchers across disciplines
