In this project our initial objective will be to define the impact of preclinical sex bias on health disparities linked to gender and then how these are influenced by race/ethnicity and societal factors; with a focus on disease prevention and improving population health. Our main aims will be to consolidate key evidence gaps at the preclinical and clinical interface which may contribute to gender inequity in skeletal disease diagnosis and preventative treatments.
This project aims to address the Department of Health and Social Care ARI 1: Early action to prevent poor health outcomes. This ARI focuses on prevention, early diagnosis and appropriate intervention for people, improving population health and reducing disparities.
NTF is a great opportunity to develop networks, skills and evidence to inform policy related to your research. Check areas of research interest (ARIs) of relevant select committees and APPG to identify issues which are on the government agenda.
Really looking forward to contributing and growing understanding around health disparities in the UK. Our research will inform discussions around importance of interpretation of data and evidence across preclinical and clinical literature and we hope to grow our networks with MPs, government ministers, external stakeholders and researchers in this area. We will focus on health disparities linked to female skeletal health (including minority groups) and on development of policies centred around equity of medical treatments and services in the UK and informing the Woman's Health Strategy for England.
