We are holding a group discussion considering the topic: 'What is the role of the teacher in the digital age?' George Siemens suggested that 'Know-how and know-what is being supplemented with know-where' in the digital era and that aspects of learning, particularly cognitive aspects, could be handed over to digital technology leaving learners free to connect with and learn from each other. But where is the teacher in this learning process and what is their role? Do we even need professional teachers anymore? And in what sorts of spaces would teaching and learning take place?
