Aeronautics and Astronautics students aim to break world-records.

Published: 18 August 2015

A group of Aeronautics and Astronautics students will aim to design, build and test a wingsuit as part of their Group Design project, before it is flown by lecturer Dr Angelo Grubisic. They aim to break the world-records for fastest, longest distance and highest altitude wingsuit flight ever attempted.

The students are working hard to attempt to break the world record, setting the fastest, longest distance and highest altitude wingsuit flight in history. Dr Angelo Grubisic , lecturer in Astronautics and Advanced Propulsion an experienced wingsuit BASE jumper, will test out the new suit in The R.J Mitchell wind tunnel

Students have submitted their Group Design Projects and are awaiting to find out if they are on the team for the hopefully record breaking wingsuit. Meanwhile, Dr Grubisic has been honing his BASE jumping skills in Norway and Hawaii.

The R. J. Mitchell wind tunnel tests, where Dr Grubisic will be free flying are planned to take place this month.
