This year OBR held their inaugural Consulting Competition, and of 40 teams that applied, the team from Southampton were one of 8 teams selected for the final competition round, which was held at the Manchester Business School on 29 March.
The team of four postgraduate research students consisted of two from the Centre for Biological Sciences - James Beggs and Matthew Rodrigues - and two from the Faculty of Medicine - Joanna Gould and Philip Alexander.
The team were highly commended for their analysis on the best strategy for a large pharmaceutical company investing in novel diabetes drugs. Although they didn’t win the overall competition, Dr Philip Alexander was awarded the prize for "Best Presenter".
The team are in the process of opening the OBR Southampton Chapter and anyone interested should contact James Beggs at jeb2g11@soton.ac.uk.
