Train and educate potential users in the appropriate application and use of microscopy techniques.
Secure the provision of appropriate biomedically-oriented microscopy facilities for users from the University of Southampton and the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
Develop nationally-recognised strength in a broad range of 3D and correlative bio-imaging techniques.
Maintain a joint University research / NHS diagnostic facility, capitalising on the synergies and opportunities presented by such an arrangement which is unique in this country.
Foster a supportive environment conducive to spreading the influence and impact of the BIU and the uptake of microscopy in general.
