Ye Zhao joined the Department of Digital and Data Driven Marketing in September 2019 as a PhD student under the supervision of Professor Paurav Shukla, Dr. Weisha Wang and Dr. Cheng Hao (Steve) Chen.
Ye’s current research interests lie in the interface between social influence,
consumer psychology and consumer behavior in the context of luxury branding
and marketing. More specifically, he draws on his working experience in the
luxury industry and training in marketing to study emerging trends in luxury
consumption, especially the more unorthodox aspects of it, such as consumption experience accompanied by interpersonal ostracism, and consumer revenge.
Prior to starting his doctorate, Ye received his MSc in Management (Distinction) from the University of Liverpool and held marketing positions for international luxury brands, such as Dior and Hermès.
