How to apply

Apply to University of Southampton Malaysia by completing the online application form.

We take applications throughout the year for all programmes and strongly advise you to apply as early as possible.

If you are looking to study with us but need funding to do so, we have a list of scholarships for local and international students.

Step One

To enable the faster processing of your application, we encourage applicants to include all the necessary documents:

Required Documentation
Official academic transcripts: these must be certified by your institution.
Transcripts showing previous academic awards: these must be certified as true copy by the awarding institution or by a University of Southampton official agent.
Forecast results: if official results are not available, these must be certified by your institution.
Evidence of your English Language Qualifications: We need to ensure that your listening, written and spoken English skills will enable you to enjoy the full benefit of your studies. You will need an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.5 (with no component below 5.5) or an equivalent qualification (Band A).

Identification: A copy of your National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) for Malay students or Passport for international students.

Step Two

Go to the online application, ensure you fill in all the information, there is no need to create a username and password, this is done automatically when you save your application.

Step Three

You can exit your application at any time, save your application and the system will automatically provide you with a unique login and password. Visit resume your application

After you have completed your online application, an email receipt will be sent to your registered email address. The receipt contains your unique participant ID as well as instructions to complete your registration.

Step Four

Please scan and send all the required documents to together with your unique participant ID as reference.

The admissions team will process your application upon receipt of your form and supporting documentation. You will receive updates through email and a decision is usually made within one week, dependent on time of year and the faculty receiving your application.

English language requirements

Students who achieve band FY IELTS 5.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in all components will be required to follow the language pathway where students take the module English for Engineers and Scientists in semester one and two, as well as Communication in English in semester zero.

Students who achieve Band B IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in all components (or GCE O-Level (1119) Grade C) will only require English language classes in the first semester.
