A competitive edge

The strength and prestige of our degrees are recognised by a wide spectrum of employers who view graduates of Ocean and Earth Science as well-qualified scientists who possess excellent personal and transferable skills profiles such as numeracy, communication and teamworking. Furthermore, our graduates are seen as having a greater degree of independence and self-reliance than any comparable graduates.

A wealth of options

A degree in the ocean and Earth sciences will prepare you for a wide choice of careers such as civil engineering and construction, exploration, geophysical survey, conservation and government laboratory work.

Some of our graduates progress immediately to a dedicated master's degree or doctorate in their chosen area. Teacher training and specialisms within the civil service have also been popular. Other students however have chosen graduate-entry routes into very different areas, ranging from banking and insurance to the armed forces and IT.
