Dear Followers & Customer, Please find below a variety of news from your Sport & Wellbeing Team. Sport & Wellbeing #TeamSouthampton Week Commencing 5th October 2020

Fitness Classes

Sport and Wellbeing are finally able to reveal an exciting new development. The return of fitness classes! Starting on Monday 12th October, face-to-face fitness classes will be making a return to the Jubilee Sports Hall. We are launching a number of classes led by our talented and enthusiastic instructors. Classes include Indoor Cycling, Body Pump and Aqua. In addition to this, we will also be continuing with our virtual classes so there are no excuses not to get the body moving this Autumn. For further information about our classes and the upcoming timetable, please click here.

Members can sign up for face-to-face classes up to seven days in advance using the app, with non-members being able to book two days in advance. All classes are included in memberships with non-members required to pay £4.50 per class. If you are still unsure on how to use our app or have not used it before, we have an easy to follow step-by-step guide in Useful Downloads below.

In addition to our Gym and Swimmers Journeys, we have also introduced our Class Journey with instructions on how to access the facilities safely and responsibly. Please make yourselves aware of this so all attendees can have a safe and smooth experience.

Capacity Update

After much feedback and review of our guidelines, we are pleased to announced that we have a capacity update for the Jubilee Sports Centre gym. We are now increasing the numbers available per session to 30.  We will still have the same measures in place and booking is still required through our app. If you are not familiar with our procedure, we have a YouTube video outlining all you need to know when visiting the gym.

Health and Safety Update

We would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and support during these unprecedented times. As the current situation is ever-changing, we ask people to remain vigilant, mindful, and prepared for changes to our approach towards health and safety. We will update people as and when it is necessary. If you require further information or are still unsure on our procedures, please see the click here. For any additional queries, we urge you to get in contact with us.

DoesYouGood

We have posted a new edition of DoesYouGood. If you have not been following DoesYouGood, this is where we bring you opportunities, ideas and initiatives to help you maintain a heightened attitude towards your wellbeing. We want to support our students, staff, and wider community.

This publication includes ‘One of The Fives Ways to Wellbeing: Connect’ from the Enabling Services; Mental Health Day 2020; The Ghostrun; Getting Involved at the University of Southampton and Talks on being social. Link here.

Memberships

As our long-time members will likely have noticed, since reopening we have changed our membership options. Whether you are a long-time member looking for an update or a brand new member looking for more information, below you can find our membership info crash course.

Student Membership £12.99: This gives students access to the gyms, pool, courts and classes. Everything listed is included in the monthly fee. This is a monthly rolling contract and can be cancelled at any time after one month. This is the best memberships for University of Southampton students looking to take advantage of everything on offer here at Sport and Wellbeing

Community Membership £14.99: This is the membership for both staff and external users of our facilities. As with the student membership, it gives access to the gyms, pool, courts and classes. Everything listed is included in the membership. This is also a rolling monthly contract that can be cancelled anytime after the first month.

PAYG £4.50 (per usage): Not ready to commit? Want to try out facilities? Want a one-off session? We have reduced the cost of our Pay As You Go pricing. This allows people to access one session at either the pool or gym or one booking of a class or court. This is the perfect way to kick-start your active journey.

Sports Pass free: This gives access to Sports Club sessions and IM matches. It does not give access to the gyms, pool, court or classes and these will need to be paid for separately if a membership is not owned. Staff and External users will still be required to purchase a separate Associate Membership.

Active Nation free:  We are in partnership with Active Nation to allow our staff and students access to various facilities across Southampton. These include The Quays, Bitterne Leisure Centre, and more! For more information visit www.activatenation.org.uk

Membership Housekeeping

We would politely like to remind everyone that as of the 1st November we will no longer be waiving the £15 joining fee for new members. Join before October 31st to take advantage of this limited time offer!

As the new term rolls around, members may be aware that the facilities have become busier as pool, gym and class slots have begun to fill up faster. In order to ensure a fairer booking system, we will be implementing a fine system. Non-attendance to a pre-booked gym, pool or class slot will result in a fine added to your account. To prevent this, please use the app or contact us to cancel beforehand. The fine system will commence on Monday the 12th of October. If you need more information regarding this, please contact our customer service team.
