Southampton Sport offers a great range of fitness classes, designed to help you keep fit while also having fun! Our variety of classes cater to all abilities and fitness levels, and offer something to suit everyone.
The majority of our classes are free to Southampton Sport members but non-members are also very welcome - see 'Prices' for further information.
All classes must be booked in advance - Southampton Sport members may book for "free classes" online. If you do not yet have your login information, please contact the reception at the Jubilee Sports Centre or Mayflower Gym

BODYPUMP™ |
BODYPUMP™ is for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. Our awesome instructors will help you burn up to 590 calories. |
Circuits | This is the ultimate station-based class, providing a full body workout to improve mobility, strength and stamina and is ideal for both individuals and sports teams. |
Indoor Cycling |
Indoor Cycling is a great way to improve overall aerobic fitness, increase stamina, lower body-fat levels and increase muscle tone. Whether you are a first timer or a seasoned cyclist, if you are looking to improve your cycling this class is for you. |
Strong Nation | Combines high intensity interval training with the science of Synced Music Motivation. In every class, music and moves sync in a way that pushes you past your perceived limits, to reach your fitness goals faster. |
Zumba | The Class that takes the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. |
Pound Fit | A full body cardio jam session combining light resistance with constant simulative drumming, fusing cardio and pilates. A 45 minute session rocking to your favourite music. |
Dance Fit | Party along to some classic music in our high intensity, all over body workout. |
H.I.I.T | High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) will improve your cardiovascular fitness with it's short burst of maximum energy output, followed by a short recovery. |
Rowing Class | A 20 minute rowing class to music, the class focuses on high power/watts. Perfect as a standalone cardiovascular workout whilst also exercising muscles in your posterior chain. |
Functional RIG Class | This gym based class is a full-body workout, aimed at improving your body's strength, control, co-ordination, agility, stability and balance. We are also offering inductions into this class to help teach you the exercises. |

Abs and Back | Exercises to improve the strength in your back and abdominal area. Improving postures and bad backs. |
Aqua Zumba | Dance fitness party in the water, a calorie burning workout. Participants must be able to swim 25m and be confident in the water. |
Core Fitness | A class designed to strengthen core muscles and help with posture and back problems. This class can be utilised by people recovering from an injury. |
L.B.T. | This class is designed to strengthen the Legs, Bums and Tums, using resistance bands and body weight. |
Latin Fusion | A Cardio workout where you are free to enjoy Latin dance music with Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha, Reggaton, moves. A great way to work out and have some fun. |
Body Blitz | All over body conditioning, cardio and abs. Set out in an interval style training session to music using body resistance and equipment. |
Aqua Fit | An all round body workout suitable for any ability or for people returning from injury. A great way to enjoy the water with exercise! |
W.O.W (Workout of the Week) | Our workout of the week promotes a whole body workout with mobility, strength and flexibility. A great way to end the week with one of our instructors. |
20:20 | This gym workout consists of 20 minutes on equipment, followed by 20 minutes of studio based exercises, working the whole body. |

Total Stretch | A Workout that blends flexibility with balance and strength working through sequences to challenge the body, creating a feeling of calm and harmony a mind and body holistic approach. This class will also help to improve blood flow to muscles, helping improve your performance in sport. |
Pilates | Exercises to target the deep postural muscles and improve posture, strength and flexibility whilst relieving stress and tension. Pilate exercises are recommended by osteopaths and physiotherapists to aid injury recovery. |
Fitness Pilates | A 30minute workout - Pilates sequences put together to challenge your deep postural muscles. If you are new to pilates, you may benefit from attending a pilates class before joining in with fitness pilates. |
Yoga | This Yoga class works on strengthening and toning, helping to improve flexibility, stamina, co-ordination and balance. Yoga is suitable for participants at all levels. |
Flex & Flow | A mat based class suitable for all, with elements of Yoga, Pilates and mindful Relaxation. Develop your flexibility and gently strengthen your core while taking the time to stretch, relax and breathe. |
Tai Chi | Tai Chi is a moving meditation in the form of a series of physical exercises, stretches and breath work that aim to cultivate harmony of self allowing energy to flow smoothly and beautifully through the mind and body. Essential tools to have in an increasingly chaotic and stressed world, add some serenity and balance. Suitable for everyone. |

All classes need to be booked in advance at the Jubilee Sports Centre reception or via our online booking system available on the UoS Sport App.
All customers on a rolling monthly UoS Student Membership or Community Membership can book up to 7 days in advance. Class fees are included in the cost of membership, so can be booked at no additional charge.
All customers with a Sports Pass or Pay As You Go membership can book up to 2 days in advance.
NB Advanced booking period is subject to change.
Where a fee is payable this must be paid at the time of booking. Failure to attend a pre-booked session will result in the loss of the booking fee.
Members who fail to attend pre-booked sessions without notifying Southampton Sport Reception will be charged £2.25 and may lose advance booking privileges. Use of membership will be suspended until the fine is paid. Attendance is recorded for a class when a member swipes their ID card on the reader at the turnstiles when entering the facilities. Members are reminded that class bookings using a membership number can only be taken from the member themselves. It is not permitted to make a booking on behalf of another member.
As part of our partnership with Active Nation, Student and Staff members* can access some of the classes at Active Nation.
*Full members only, Sports Pass members not eligible for Active Nation activities.
If you wish to access these classes you first need to fill out our 'consent to share' form so that we can confirm to Active Nation that you are a member (NB this will take 72 hours). Booking on the classes is done directly through Active Nation.
