Contact us: drop-in service and appointments

You can contact the Visa and Immigration Student Advice Service (VISAS) for advice about visas or immigration to the UK for study at Southampton if you are a current student or a prospective student.

Drop-in service

Drop-in is the best way to contact us if you have a quick question or if your personal details have changed while you are studying.

Appointments

You can book an appointment for visa advice or visa check-in.

To find out what will happen at your appointment and what you need to bring, please read the information for the relevant type of appointment.

When

The VISAS Team drop-in service is usually held every week at the following times:

Tuesday 10:00 - 11:30

Wednesday 13:00 - 14:30

Thursday 10:00 - 11:30

Where

The VISAS Team drop-in sessions will be carried out using a live chat during the times published above.

How does the live chat work?

Click on the link above during the advertised times. You will be asked to login using your University login details. You will then be greeted by one of our Customer Service Advisors, who can answer your questions or direct you to a more specific service depending on what it is that you need.

What to expect

The drop-in service is aimed at students who have a quick question about their visa or immigration status for studying in the UK. For more complicated questions, we may ask you to book a visa advice appointment.

 

 

Visa advice appointments

Before you book 

Visit the drop-in service because we may be able to answer your question quickly or give you important information about what to bring to your appointment.

How to book

Contact the Student Services Centre.

After you have booked your appointment, you will receive an email to confirm the date and time. 

Most appointments are face-to-face but we can arrange a telephone or Skype appointment if you request this when you book.

Before you attend your appointment

If you are applying for a visa:

At your appointment

Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time and wait in the visa waiting area opposite the main reception desk in the Student Services Centre, building 37, Highfield Campus. 

A Visa Adviser will help you to check your documents, check the answers to your online visa application.

If everything is ready, we will help you to submit your visa application during the appointment

 

Visa check-in appointments

If your programme of study starts at the beginning of a semester, you will usually be invited to an International Registration event by email. You must attend the event to complete your enrolment.

Who needs to book

You are starting a new programme of study and your start date is not at the beginning of a semester.

You get a new visa or passport while you are continuing your studies at Southampton.

After you have booked your appointment, you will receive an email to confirm the date and time.
