You can contact the Visa and Immigration Student Advice Service (VISAS) about visas or immigration to study at Southampton if you are a current or prospective student.

Visa drop-in service

When

The VISAS Team drop-in service is usually held every week at the following times (London GMT):

Tuesday 10:00 - 11:30

Wednesday 13:00 - 14:30

Thursday 10:00 - 11:30  -  please note that there will be no visa drop-in service on Thursday 13 August 2020

How does the live chat work?

Use your University login details to enter. 

You will be greeted by one of our Customer Service Advisors, who can answer your questions or direct you to a more specific service depending on what it is that you need.

What to expect

The drop-in service is aimed at students who have a quick question about their visa or immigration status for studying in the UK. For more complicated questions, we may ask you to book a visa advice appointment.

Before you book 

Visit the drop-in service because we may be able to answer your question quickly or give you important information about what to bring to your appointment.

How to book

While the Student Service Centre building is closed, speak to us during the drop-in service to book an appointment.

After you have booked your appointment, you will receive an email to confirm the date and time. 

Appointments are online using Microsoft Teams. 

Before you attend your appointment

If you are applying for a visa:

At your appointment

Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time.

A Visa Adviser will help you to check your documents, check the answers to your online visa application.

If everything is ready, we will help you to submit your visa application during the appointment

If your programme of study starts at the beginning of a semester, you will usually be invited to an International Registration event by email. You must attend the event to complete your enrolment.

Who needs to book

You are starting a new programme of study and your start date is not at the beginning of a semester.

You get a new visa or passport while you are continuing your studies at Southampton.

How to book

Contact the Student Services Centre.

After you have booked your appointment, you will receive an email to confirm the date and time.
