Find out more about student visas and the specialist support we can offer
You will receive a warm welcome when you arrive. We offer a free Meet and Greet service to take you from the airport straight to your University accommodation. A special programme of events and talks will help you find your way around and make new friends.

The idea of arriving in a new country after a long journey can seem daunting, so we run a free Meet and Greet service at the airport to help make things as easy as possible for you.
The Meet and Greet service runs from both Heathrow and Gatwick airports on two consecutive days in September. University representatives will be there to meet you when you arrive and a special coach service will take you straight to your hall of residence in Southampton or Winchester. Details about the 2016 service will be available later in the year.
We plan the dates of the Meet and Greet service so that you arrive at the University in time to take part in the welcome programme for international and EU students.
There is also a Meet and Greet service earlier in the summer for students arriving for pre-sessional programmes.
Before term starts you’ll be able to take part in a range of welcome events and activities, including some especially for EU and international students.
The talks and events will give you the chance to learn more about life in the UK and in Southampton and Winchester. You will also find out about the support services we provide, plus important information about visas. There will be lots of opportunities to meet people and make new friends.
The welcome programme includes events such as:
There will also be induction activities organised by your academic unit. These might include:
Joining one of our many student-run clubs or societies is a great way to meet new friends and get more involved in student life. You will have a chance to find out all about the different clubs and societies during freshers' week, soon after you arrive.
There are societies for lots of different interests and sports, as well as for groups of students who share a nationality or religion.
