Course catalogue

Our pathway courses are designed to prepare you for study at university in the UK. The options are IFY (for undergraduate study), Pre-Masters/MIPS (Masters with Integrated Preparatory Study), Summer pre-sessionals (11 week and 6 week) and EAS (English for Academic study course).

We also provide in-sessional English language support and study skills advising for international students at Southampton, as well as workshops on intercultural communication and EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) courses.


International Foundation Year (IFY)

This programme is for talented students from outside the UK who may not have the appropriate qualifications for direct entry to an undergraduate degree programme in a British university.


Pre-Masters (MIPS)

This integrated programme is designed to prepare and develop students from outside the UK who have an undergraduate degree but may not qualify for direct entry to their chosen Masters course.


Pre-sessional programmes

These summer programmes are the best way to achieve the English language requirement for your undergraduate or postgraduate degree course.


English for Academic Study

The course is designed to increase confidence and fluency in language use in formal and informal academic contexts.
