Who we are

Staffed by a dedicated team of tutors and teaching fellows, the Academic Centre for International Students (ACIS) delivers a variety of programmes and support for International students. Its three key programmes are the summer pre-sessional, the International Foundation Year (IFY) and the pre-Masters programme*. Together these programmes provide pathways for over a thousand international students to join the University’s undergraduate and masters programmes each year.

ACIS also delivers a range of in-sessional courses and support for international studies, from short courses covering specific aspects of English for Academic Purposes, to bespoke subject-specific academic English courses.

The successful English language stages modules, which are designed to enhance international students’ language learning skills and knowledge of English are also delivered by the ACIS staff.

Other elements of ACIS teaching are undergraduate modules designed specifically for ERASMUS students, which cover British life and culture, academic English and independent learning skills.

*This is the first part of the University’s Masters with Integrated Preparatory Study (MIPS) Programme.
