Excursions

Below you will find information about our planned excursion to Fort Nelson.

Conference - Book Now!Public Session - Book Now!

We are delighted to offer a day of exciting excursions on Sunday 2 August.  The day will consist of a visit to the Mary Rose, Porchester Castle, Titchfield Barn, Titchfield Abbey and finishing off with a tour and conference dinner in the magnificent surrounds of Fort Nelson.

The Victorian fort is home to the Royal Armouries national collection of artillery – The Big Guns.  Strategically positioned atop Portsdown Hill, with panoramic views across the Meon Valley and Portsmouth Harbour, Fort Nelson is an historic monument, restored to how it would have been in the 1890s. The museum’s displays trace the development of artillery from pre-gunpowder siege machines to modern-day super guns. There are over 350 big guns on display.

The excursion will include a guided tour of this extraordinary venue and will end with the conference dinner.

Date: Sunday 2 August 2015

Time: 16:00 - 23:30

** Please note transportation to the excursions can only be provided if attending the conference dinner.
